What do you get dad for his birthday?

Like many people, I struggle when it comes to finding the perfect gift for my parents and being a daddy's girl makes it that much harder. But this year, I had it very well planned.

My dad is an auto mechanic, a dang good one, I must say. Growing up, I used to love going to work with him, and I actually started helping him fix cars. His dream was for us to continue to fix cars together and one day has our very own shop together, but as I got older and began the wonderful transition to womanhood, I stopped going to work with him. Then came the girly cloth (I was always a tomboy), followed by getting my nails done, and then the heels. So you can just get oily when you are all dressed up and looking pretty. But my dad kept trying. He even got me a jumpsuit and said we could get it tailored to fit perfectly, and I could still wear heels, guys love a lady in heel working on cars. Until I broke my neck, an ankle, or dropped a part on my foot, ya ok, Dad.

Well, as his birthday approached, I knew I wanted to do something extra special, especially since I am now a published author, so book 2 of the series was decided. Alexander, the Automotive Mechanic, is a tribute to my dad, Curtis. Every aspect of the book is inspired by his life. My dad had done so much for so many people in his life and asked for very little in return. There is not a single person that knows my dad, and they would not say, "Curtis will give you the shirt off his back," "Curtis is the best mechanic around," or "Man, Curtis will do anything for you." My favorite saying from my dad is, "I got you covered like a wool blanket in the winter," and I can tell you he always has, sometimes a bit late, but he will do it for you. My dad has always been just a phone call away at anytime, day or night.

What better way to show my love and appreciation than to share his story with the world?

Thank you, Dad. We love you so very much.
